I hope this is the only morning I have to 'bust out' to get on the road. That's not my idea of a vacation, but in order to get to Denver International Airport for a ten o'clock flight, we had to leave our house at 7 AM. Thank goodness I was flying Southwest since American has cancelled so many flights. It was a breeze going through security and my row on the plane didn't have anyone in the middle seat. Bonnie picked me up and brought me to her house where I had a chance to visit with 'poor unfortunate Rebecca' and her daddy, Adrian. If you haven't had a chance to meet Rebecca, you've missed a hoot wrapped in beautiful packaging. I guess I could say the same thing about Adrian. I'll see if I can attached a photo of his van that advertises his business. They are both featured on the sides of the van. Scroll to the bottom for a bigger picture.
We're going to make Reubens for dinner. I made them for the family the last time I was here and now it's a family tradition: Reuben Tuesday. Here's my recipe for a perfect Reuben:
Dark rye bread (without caraway seeds for me)
Pastrami (can be turkey pastrami)
Swiss cheese
Sauerkraut
1000 Island dressing
Grill the rye and swiss like a grilled cheese sandwich. Heat the meat separately. Mix the sauerkraut and dressing together and heat in the microwave. After the bread is toasted and the cheese all melty, add the meat and sauerkraut mixture. It's yummy. We leave in the morning, so you'll read more later. Jackie
